Due to its territorial dimension, the European Union also has the potential to develop and cooperate with various institutions that analyze data, transfer knowledge and formulate various policies, including environmental policies at all levels. The project is also aiming towards national policy makers and experts who are responsible for territorial cohesion, territorial development and planning, macro-regional cooperation, macro-regional strategies, and the preparation and implementation of cohesion policy at the national level.
Goals of ESPON project:
- Support the strengthening of the effectiveness of EU cohesion policy and other sectoral policies and programs.
- Produce, disseminate and promote territorial data covering the entire territory of the 28 EU Member States, as well as the 4 partner countries of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, under the European Structural Investment Funds and national and regional territorial development policies.
- Use the measures and activities of the program in the field of territorial research.
As part of the project, we in Maribor also want to explore, how the concept of collaborative economy is actually implemented, developed and where are the additional potentials in this area in individual participating cities.
