The European construction sector generates around 9% of gross domestic product (GDP) in the European Union and directly employs 18 million people, making it one of the most important sectors of European economy. At the same time, it is also one of Europe’s largest consumers of resources, consuming about half of all materials obtained, and is generating a third of all waste in the EU.
Goals of Cinderela project:
- Create routes for the processing of construction and demolition waste, which, together with waste from industry, utilities and others sources form excellent secondary raw materials for construction work.
- Reduce demand for non-renewable natural resources, waste production and maximize the value of recycled materials.
- Create a CinderCEBM business model with a one-stop shop (CinderOSS) that offers everything companies need to know to produce and use building materials in buildings and civil engineering works.
The project partner is the Maribor municipal company Nigrad, which is supported with professional assistance by Wcycle Institute Maribor. In Dogoše, we will rehabilitate the degraded area and set up a waste processing plant for construction composites, which we will use in construction in the city and thus reduce the existing construction costs.
